giddens will back up selvie...JPP will start if he comes here. You can say noone is garunteed a starting job but in order to get kids like this hear garuntees are made. This guy is a beast. If he isn't garunteed, then he will earn opposite of selvie by season. This will be one of the best combinations in college football.

You're kidding right?  JPP had 9 sacks this year in the Jayhawk conference on an amazing defense where he probably wasn't the best defensive player- Jacquian Williams gets that distinction or their corner Coylie.  For the 'he's awesome' folks remember last year, in the same conference David Bedford had an amazing 16 sacks, and Markus White was an 1st JC All-American and had 24, and he signed with FSU.  Bedford finished this season at USF with .5 sacks, and White finished his first season at FSU with 1.5.  JPP won't even make it on campus until June, he'll have a tough time beating out Marshall, let alone keeping Giddens at bay.

Giddens is a versatile cat, he played both sides for Da Wood to try an challenge the opposition from running away from him.  Also, Giddens is 10x's better than JPP is now or will ever be.  Ryne Giddens is Universally known as an all-american and was UA National Defensive POY.

Well, he must be hyped then. 5 stars for no reason. Some of the top colleges after him for no reason. Bedford was a 4 star..he is a 5. I wonder why? Probably because if this kid gets the right instructions he will be playing a 1st round draft pick. Giddens has been playing high school kids. While he is capable of playing right away he will need to get used to the size and speed of the college game. It won't be hard to beat out anyone for him. Our d-line didn't boast incredible stats last year.

He's a five on one site, there is another location that has him as a three star, rivals has four star.  I go by production and ability.  JPP was a two star, no one wanted coming out of Deerfield Beach HS, signed with UCF...so now he's a first round pick?  Kid is a nice jumbo athlete that has good range but he's a jc.  markus white was a 2-3 star kid out of HS, and played like it at FSU last year.

He will not beat out Selvie...so are you saying not having incredible stats JPP could beat him out?  He will not beat out Marshall, and he will be relegated to being a rotating pass rushing specialist.  He's been noted even in JUCO to be weak against the run, that's the scouting report against this guy.  he doesn't break down well, he doesn't seal off the perimeter, and his lateral quickness is only above average.  Our DL is going to be much improved on the interior, and exterior.  Giddens will see minutes, and Stirrups will play considerable time, with Hill, and Hampton who was steadily improving and grabbing snaps last year.  The DL will be great.  All the spots where JPP would fit in will be filled by June, Marshall/Hampton have one DE, Selvie/Giddens the other, Bedford is the swing inside/out rush-end three technique on passing situations, Stirrups is athletic enough to play end on short yardage.  All the areas JPP could give us instant help, this season we don't need it, or rather the talent infusion has already solidified those positions.  I am sure he'd get minutes, and I am sure he'd help the team out in some capacity but he's not a savior in any fashion, and arriving in June...you shouldn't need a road map to see what happens to 4 and 5 star JUCO's that come that late with positions already filled...see Marshall and Bedford.  I don't even think JPP would see the field for the first 3-4 games.

I really could care about it anyway, but this kid is a touch overrated, and a JUCO four or five star is nothing, absolutely nothing to a High School with the same ranking.  Again, Markus White was a JUCO All-American, he was a stud DE, a five star ranking, and he had 24 sacks in his second year of JC.  He never started for FSU, and had 1.5 sacks.  Giddens is the real deal, nuff said.  This guy is not better than Giddens today.

We've had lots, and every school has had them, 4 and 5 star JUCO's who bust.  JUCO athletes are hit or misses, particularly the ones like JPP who were not very highly regarded coming out of HS and then suddenly burst onto the JC scene where they're playing in what amounts to 13th grade, nothing near true 1-A college competition.

Bring him in if he signs, but don't expect him to be a savior, and don't be surprised if by season's end it's Giddens who is the newcomer of the year at DE.

This sounds like someone we all know, I just cant put my finger on it.

He would have ZERO chance at beating out McClain.  If he signs i would be willing to pay pal money to a neutral party and bet on this.

FWIW, if I remember correctly, McClain was given SIX STARS from Max Emfinger. I believe he was MVP in HIS All-star game. So, six stars trump five. LOL

Why are you guys talking about JPP beating out Mcclain... JPP is an end, and Mcclain is a Tackle... they don't play the same position... right?  or is someone planning on switching?  i'm confused.

Right now, at DE, we have Sevlie, Marshall, Bedford, Giddens and then possibly JPP (and a couple other incoming frosh assuming they all sign).

Man, that is a ton of talent at that position.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
