Despite USF's Struggles, Leavitt Is Encouraged

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Even after Friday's 41-9 loss at No. 15 Louisville, South Florida coach Jim Leavitt said he remains encouraged.

``I'm excited about the future of our program,'' Leavitt said. ``I'm excited [about] the way we battled. We're not real strong right now, but we will be. I'm encouraged, not discouraged.''

Rest of the story

After reading the injury report at the end of the article, I was very discouraged.

ODDS AND ENDS: USF left Louisville with a laundry list of injured players - LS Justin Daniel (concussion), DE Craig Kobel (ankle), OL Frank Davis (ankle), RB Andre Hall (ankle), DE Matt Groelinger (wrist), SS Danny Verpaele (wrist), SS Drametrice Smith (ankle), DB Sidney Simpson (wrist) and FS Javan Camon (knee). Also, DT Lee Roy Selmon Jr. underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday but could return for USF's next game, Nov. 3.

Only thing I liked about the game was the reduction in silly penalties, however you can tell by the injuries that Louisville manhandled us.

You didn't say "Leavitt will destroy us!"

I find that encouraging.

Speaking on injuries, do you remember that one year, 1998 I believe, where we had all those ACL injuries?  Snellgrove and Dixon are a couply of names that pop into mind almost immediately.

That is why you like to have depth - in case the injury bug bites again.

I agree 100% with Lord Leavitt and the guy(4get his name) from ESPN was very up on our program ... at the mid way of the 3rd quarter, he could only say good things about our Beloved BULLS.

The future is Very Bright  8)

Go BULLS !!!
