Another thought is that we want PITT to beat Notre dame, because if they win out and win the BE, the cator can't take notre dame if there is a BE team with 2 more wins than them. SO if we win out and they lose to PITT and obviously USC. we would still have a real good chance at the Gator. Can someone confirm that rule.

But the obvious choice is to win BE!!!!

You misunderstood it.  BCS league champions get automatic berths regardless of record or ranking. A non-BCS school will receive a bid to the BCS if it is ranked 12th or higher in BCS rankings or it is ranked 16 and a BCS conference champ is ranked lower.

To give a possible scenario, which would tick a lot of people off here.  USF wins out to finish 11 - 1 (6-1) and #7.  Pitt loses only one more game 10 - 2 (6-1) and finishses #15.  Pittsburgh wins BE and gets auto bid.  TCU goes on a run finishes 11 - 1 and #14.  VT finishes with ACC title and ranked #17.  The BCS would take Pitt, TCU and VT, if the remaing 3 at large go to B12, B10 and SEC then USF is left out.

Got to say that wouldn't really upset me.  I certainly want to see USF go to a BCS game, but our team knew or should have known what was riding on the Pitt game.  We have set on the other side, beating WVU but being ranked behind them because of pre-season rankings.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Pitt lost 2 games.  Heck its happened before with wanny.  A few years ago they were 5-0 and everyone talking them up.  Then they lost their last 6 games.  Opps no bowl.  That won't happen this year but its still VERY tough to go undefeated in the Big East.

And if Pitt only loses 1 game, we still haved a good shot.  In a 3 way tie the highest ranked team goes to the BCS.

They very easily could lose 2 games, never underestimate Wanstache the king of the second 1/2 of the season collapse.

I'm counting on the Stache to come through for us in the clutch...

Guest BasketBull.

Pitt will not be in the Big East title hunt when it comes down to the wire. --They will be in the hunt, yes, but probably for a head coach. Mark it down!

As for the Big East, I think West Virgina is who we need to worry about. If that comatose giant wakes up, the Big East Title could get very tricky. But, chances are good that they will remain sleeping.

Do not forget that the possibility exists that a three way tie occurs. If that is the case, and all three only had 1 loss, then we would most likely be the BCS representative. So, we either need PITT to lose 2, or for two other teams to make it through conference play with 1 loss along with USF.

The first tie-breaker is to look at the record among those three teams... which means USF would need to beat the third team and have that third team beat Pitt.   (Say WVU beats Pitt but USF beats WVU).

If Pitt is 2-0 against USF and the other 6-1 or 5-2 team, then Pitt gets the BCS bid.

It's not possible for there to be a three-way tie at 6-1 without USF having beaten the third team and Pitt losing to them. A three-way tie at 6-1 means USF goes to the BCS.

True.  So the only way to have 3-way tie without everyone going 1-1 is at 5-2.

Didn't think it through all the way.

I'm still hoping for a 3-way tie.

That won't get the Big East a second BCS bid.

Pitt closes @Cincy, WVU and @UConn. They will lose 2 of those 3.
