I think I might be leaning to a "yes" on this.  In the past I've been of the opinion the service academies should be D1AA but Navy & AFA seem to be competitive.  They may never win a conference championship but they have been competitive.  Navy's game vs Notre Dame this week may change my mind though.

Yes, if they continue to play the way they are playing now.

Navy has come dangersouly close to beating ND the past two years.  I'll be pulling for them this might be there year and if they can pull that one out It will raise a few eyebrows.

It's a gimmick offense similiar to ours but they run incessantly. No need to even mention Navy as a BCS caliber team. I hate Army, but they might get Navy this year.

Service academies should be training future military leaders, not be in the business (and yes, it is a business) of BCS competition. There are plenty of other teams to root for, and I don't want our tax dollars going to something as frivolous as a football team. (If I donate personally, that's a different story.) The service academies should compete in football to the extent that it develops future leaders, and that mission doesn't require an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, et al.

Another side to this argument is the idea of football-only schools. The Big East should make all-sports membership schools a priority.

Moot because AFAIK Navy has no desire to join a conference. They don't need to join a league to get TV games, opponents, or even bowl invites (see last season). And I'm sure that Army's stint in C-USA did little to inspire Navy to go find a conference home.

Only reason I would want Navy to join is if it would prevent UCF from joining

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
