"In my knowledge of West Virginia baseball, there's not been many players of my race on his team," White was quoted as saying of baseball coach Greg Van Zant. "He's not too high on it."

Talk about called out.

This will be fun to watch.  I saw this on the WVU message boards last night and the lines are already being drawn.  Of course those that have worshipped him "see nothing wrong him providing an honest answer to a question, and come to think of it, he's right!  Fire the coach!"

They have one more year of him and will not see anything wrong with him - until he plays USF and loses the Big East title.

sounds like pat should worry more about football than the wvu baseball team. however, that's only my opinion.

isn't that MLB's concern about all teams?

He's been drafted 3 times by MLB, so he certainly has a reason to speak on the issue.

Good for you, Pat.  You have been an exemplary leader for your program and school, and are an outstanding role model for what a student-athlete can be.  College sports needs more young men and women like you, and I applaud you standing up and speaking your mind on what might become a very controversial topic.

I also hope we kick your ass for a third time, you ninny.

Pat's a good kid who spoke his mind in a respectful way.  No problem with that.

That being said, he's softer than marshmallow Fluff..

To be perfectly honest, not many black players play college baseball.  For those condemning WVU, check out USF's roster.

^Agreed.  But ****, I thought you were being literal with the title of this thread, so hopeful.

As long as their baseball coach doesn't advocate anal action with sports equipment, I think they'll be okay.

Lets be blatantly honest

Unless they are intentionally not recruiting people "of my race" (which would be assinine, look at the athletes in other sports at their school)  This is a waste of time.  More African Americans may just be choosing to play other sports like football, or like me, find baseball to be slow and boring most of the time!
