oh well.  really that whole thing is a joke.  every city will claim that they are the true "title town"  and you are probably just upset that it wasnt Knoxville.  it really means nothing and in 3 weeks every person in america will have forgotten who won that contest.

it would have been just as much a farce if it was knoxville...

in ranking relevant sports towns, Valdosta probably would not crack my top 100

if someone wants to lay claim to being "titletown" they should at least be winning titles in sports that matter i.e. not high school football, Div. II football, or women's basketball

That's gotta be a joke ???  Valdosta?  how can any city that doesn't have any major pro sports team, and only has a division IAA (fcs) team get the label of titletown?

They should have just given it to Boston or New York.  There would be less ********.

Should have been a little more objective.... should have assigned points to the various championships. 20 pts for NFL championship, 15 pts for NBA title, 10 pts for... etc. You could even include other titles for Division II or little league, but they would be less points.

Then again, that would make sense and nothing ESPN does makes sense.
