...except ME wanted him. Yeah, my 'thoughts', 'ideas', etc. are so far-fetched & off-base:

West Virginia upsets Duke, gets to Sweet 16

Back at his alma mater, back in the NCAAs, Bob Huggins looked and sounded just like the Bob Huggins everyone remembers. He yelled. He groused. He drew an early technical foul. And he willed his No. 7-seeded West Virginia past second-seeded Duke. Playing tough man-to-man defense, grabbing what seemed like every loose ball, West Virginia used Joe Alexander's 22 points and 11 rebounds and all sorts of contributions from unlikely sources for a 73-67 victory over Duke on Saturday, getting to the NCAA tournament's round of 16 in Huggins' first season.

Give a rest jackass. Even if Huggy came here he would have left to go back to WVU once Beilein went to Michigan.

Yeah, but he would have left OJ Mayo, Bill Walker and Michael Beasley behind here ....  ::)

Ok... can you please compare and contrast the talent that existed at USF at the time and WVU at the time that Huggins was hired?

I would like to know which team had better talent at the time... you could have the very best coach in the world and if you have the talent from an average high school team, do you think he'd make it to the Sweet 16s?

Did you see the above post?

Huggins left KSU before Beasley played his first GAME!

Guess what?

KSU has a ton more $$$$$$ and exposure for their program even AFTER Huggy Bear left.

Also...even if Huggy would of came to Tampa for just a year...he would of left behind his #1 recruiter has Head Coach.

Also...since Huggy got Walker (from Huntington, WV....very good friends with Mayo) and Beasley, it would of probably been easier to recruit Mayo to Tampa...vs Manhanttan, KS.

Not only did Huggy recruit some of the best HS players to lowly Manhanttan, KS (middle of NO WHERE!), but he also brought in the $$$$$:

Before Huggy's 1st ever game as KSU Coach...though his career was shortlived...he brought the following:

At Kansas State...they have SOLD OUT their season tickets for the first time in history (13,000), basically DOUBLE what they sold last year (6,750).

KSU also sold out 25 new courtside side seats at $4,400 each.

KSU for the first time is looking at adding new suites/loge boxes for even more revenue.

Heck, Huggins got Nike to bump up their new contract to KSU to over $12 Million. Huggins brings in the $$$$$.

Believe KSU got Huggins on the "cheap" (only $800,000 guaranteed per year), as KSU has WELL surpassed his contracts with Millions of new revenue pouring into the program.

I'd rather build things for the long term with a strong foundation.  KSU's basketball program is about to crumble and will stay down for many years to come.  Beasley and Walker are one year and done.  They were the present AND the future of the program for the nextcouple of years.

If Huggins came here people would be ******** and complaining how he came and left.

I like our position for the next several years over theirs.

Huggins took a good team when he went to WVU that is not the case here. I rather Heath than Huggins.

You need to check your USF database. We've already gone over this ad nauseum. The KSU situation was light years away from our situation. KSU is a school with rich basketball tradition. They have been ranked No. 22 on a list of the "100 Greatest Basketball Programs of All-Time". They had almost 7K season tix holders BEFORE Huggy. They hadn't had a losing season in 4 years BEFORE Huggy. That area is a hotbed of college hoops and it didn't take much to ignite it further. Huggins coming here and jumping ship after one year may have done more long term damage than Seth and Mac combined.

Thank you for your input on this matter but your endorsement of the original poster's thoughts shows just how right the rest of us are.
