hey guys. the 2008 game with rutgers will not happen in the final week of the season. tampa has agreed not to pursue hosting the ACC championship game beyond 2009, and USF has agreed to negotiate a longer lease with TSA.

Good move...as the editorial from earlier today that folks were complaining about basically suggested the same thing:

The university should give up talk of building a new stadium and move toward signing a long-term contract - of 15 to 20 years - at Raymond James.

And the authority should forego pursuing a long-term contract with the ACC.

i wouldn't say it was a total loss for usf. they lose the national tv game, but negotiating a longer lease isn't bad assuming it is written in the contract that usf has rights to the field on the first and second thursday and saturday in december. if that isn't included there will probably be more problems in the future. what are the details as far as that goes greg?

This is good since we will be treated like a main tenant now and get the first week in December guaranteed.  Its not like we will have the stadium we want before 10 to 15 years.  Especially with agreement, we shouldnt have a need for an OCS anytime soon.

Our schedule should be coming out very soon.  Miami and FSU has had it out for over a week.

maybe i misread, but i didnt see anywhere that usf has the first week in december guaranteed. if that is the case however then i think this ended up being a good day for usf even though we miss out on the nationally televised rutgers game.

I would hope that we will gain first refusal on the first two weeks of dec to assure we'll be okay if a game gets postponed for some reason.
