Go check McMurphy's blog again. The speculation that the coaches just found out yesterday isn't there anymore. Green was just informed yesterday. It would appear that the coaches knew after the meeting last week. Maybe they waited to call him to minimize the bad press leading up to NLI day? Who knows?

Neither Wilcox nor Leellen Brigman, USF’s associate vice president for enrollment planning and management, would say whether they denied admission to any of Leavitt’s recruits. The committee hasn’t formally told Leavitt the status of his recruits, Brigman said. She said, however, that coaches can usually “project what may happen.â€Â

So Leavitt had to guess last Thursday what the committee might decide.  It's doubtful the coaches found out before yesterday.

Check McMurphy's blog. The story is changing now...

On Thursday, the committee summoned USF coach Jim Leavitt to discuss the status of some of his recruits and shared whether the committee would deny admission of some prospects or accept them with conditions.

I would assume that follows with Brigman's comment that nothing "official" is given at the meeting, but that the coach is pretty well aware of whether they will admit or not.

The story hasn't changed.  Pretty well aware is different from a yes or no.  If there was still a chance he would be admitted, Leavitt likely wouldn't tell the recruit.  Green had to know that he was borderline.

On this, we totally agree. Seeing as they would have had his first 2 terms senior year grades in by that time, he probably wasn't showing much improvement if they turned him away.

But does this stupid committee mean we can no longer sign and place kids in JUCO or prep?  And if we are still doing that with other guys, why is Justin Green different?  The committee is pointless, imo.
