Can they stop the 4 hour games?

The main thing that bugs the crap out of me as far as the 4+ hour games is that the networks only allow for 3.5 hours.

So that means the game that comes on after the first one is always going to be in the second quarter before the telecast starts.

The only thing worse than football taking too long is when sex takes too long, God I hate that ::)

You may want to try involving someone else...it goes much faster than when you're alone.

Offenses are way, way ahead of defenses all over college football. When teams are putting up 40 points on each other most weeks, of course the games are going to take four hours.

Maybe I'm a bit older than a lot of you, but I just don't remember watching games 25 years ago and it taking 4 hours.  I know commercial time has increased but it seems there is an injury on every other play (I know the players are bigger and faster and something has to give) and then there are the 12 reviews in every Big East games because the refs all come from the Stevie Wonder School of Referees.  They just seem to blow a whistle, guess at a call, and then wait for the guy in the booth to let them know if their True/False guess was correct or not.

I do the DVR thing with all USF games, but when I'm not at a game I would prefer to watch it while its happening.  But I just hate all the waiting.

Then again, maybe you're not  ;)

But you are right about the duration. College Football on television is

huge in the ratings. No matter what weenie-esque teams we have playing

on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday...the game draws big

(for time slot and target audience) numbers.

Gotta remember, 25 years ago ESPN and cable were not the enterprises they

are today. And the bigger the product, the greater the exposure, the

more advertising dollars get thrown into the mix, and the more commercials

are going to run. The beast must be fed!

An interesting stat I'd like to see: given the total number of plays reviewed

after an on-field-call or coach's challenge, what percentage are reversed?

Bet it is higher in the Big East than the rest
