As of now the Jets and Giants have strongly rejected a roof on the new stadium so any bowl up here on 12/31 will not be weatherproof.

never said rodeos were ever big--- but the stadium size lends itself well to that type of "sport"

I agree with your sentiments SanJay but I don't see the Big East getting 6 bowls for 8 teams, I could be wrong there though. How many tie-ins does the Big Televen allready have?

Half of the problem is the Big East kissing Notre Dames ass!

The Big East needs to get some balls and tell ND "If you want to play as a basketball member, then you have to play as a football member... take it or leave it"

Notre Dame doesnt want to lose its conference affiliation in basketball because they dont get any "special exemptions" like they get in football

Force their hand... it would change the whole bowl landscape

We could have gone to Gator this year... but gator is  holding out until next year when they hope ND is bowl eligible so they can choose them

Screw the Gator Bowl then.  They suck and they blew it.

Being a member of the Big East wouldn't really change much for Notre Dame bowl wise. If they were ranked top 14 they would get the at large bid for BCS over any other at large team, the Big East allready allows 1 game differential bowl selection instead of forcing bowls to select teams by seed the way the PAC-10 appears to. So as long as ND was reasonably competitive they'd still get to go to the best bowl available. The big problem with ND in the Big East is that they're a tradition school and they have virtually no tradition with the football schools in the Big East. They'd need to use all their OOC games playing their typical opponents. Of course then they'd probably have a lock on SoS for eternity but I think having winning seasons is more important to them than kings of the narrow road.

A few things.

The whole reason the BE got the Gator Bowl affiliation was because of the ND part of the deal in the mid 90s. The Gator Bowl would gkadky drop the BE for the SEC or Big 10 so the ND affiliation is our only big grasp to hat bowl still. They started to phase us out with the Big 12 option. So lets be greatful.

A NY bowl or any other northern bowl will be no better than the Int'l or PJ. Northern bowls don't work. It's proven, that is why every big game is in the southern portion of America.

The conference needs to travel. Thanks to Pitt not selling their share of tix to the Fiesta Bowl we've had problems killing this image.

Correct--there are no bowls north of 37 degrees north that aren't domed, except for the one in Boise. However, I'd love to see one in Lucas Oil in Indy once it's completed.
