hmm i thought the Florida team was just for former UF players. this is cool though.

If its not I'm sure all the players from around the state will really enjoy playing in the swamp and wearing the Blue and Orange ::)

they'll be getting a paycheck, which i'm sure comes before anything else.

Yes and the pay looks to be pretty darn good according to the site!

$5k per game and some players can make up to $100k a season. Not bad for only a ten game schedule.

Quote from site:

What will the players be paid?

During its initial season, most players will be paid $5,000 per game plus benefits. Six players on each team will be designated as franchise players, who will be eligible for an additional $50,000 per year.

The reason for the orange and blue and numerous gator ties is purely for marketing.

I definitely want to go to the game at Ray Jay, this will be interesting. I wonder how long this league will last though, Chris Leak is going to play i'm happy about that.

They play the Tennessee team here at RayJay on 6/7/2008.

I'll go I am sure... but, I can't stand the colors or the fact they market everything towards UF fans. Although, I understand why they do it.

I don't see this league being able to be a success.  Too many other options in the Spring/Summer plus who cares about seeing marginal players from the past?

Yeah i'm gonna drive all the way to Gainesville so see whats basically an old-timers game.

I'll watch the game at Ray Jay just to see some of the old Gators and Bulls and if it's on Catch 47 i'll probably watch games but even with the Ray Jay game it depends on prices. If I have to pay 10 dollars for parking or more, and like over 20 for a ticket i'll probably pass on it.

It's got a great chance.

Other leagues tried to compete with the NFL, they aren't trying to do that at all. They have built-in fan base and stadiums.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
