Hard Games

Auburn - On the road, big crowd, top 20 program, tradition, history, and SEC school.

WVU - Mountaineers are good, could be #1 team in the nation when we play, looking for revenge

Rutgers - 5 days rest, on the road, Ray Rice, and a solid defense

Louisville - Need to see how Brohm & co do under Coach K, but they have some talent on both sides of the ball

Middlin' Games

Pittsburgh - Possible cold weather game

Cincinnati - Good defense, but at Ray Jay

Syracuse - The Orange might be looking to make a statement, and it's in the Dome

Not a Problem Games

Connecticut - Virtual lock if it wasn't a road game

UCF - Sure, it's their NC game, but the talent level is just too great

UNC - First year under Davis, we beat 'em in Chapel Hill and get them in RayJay with a week's rest

Virtual Lock Games

FAU - The Owls don't have the talent here

Elon - Nice tune up, get the rust off

I think you have Syracuse categorized way too high.  Sure, they're looking to make a statement, and it's in the Dome, but how does that help them?  They are definitely Not-A-Problem or a Virtual-Lock game.

You must be boozed up if you think WV is the fifth toughest game on our schedule.  They are in many people's Top 5...........

Dude, I am always boozed up  :coldone, but regardless, I have them behind Pittsburgh and Rutgers mainly because we play WVU at home.

I look at more than just their ranking.  I look at where and when we play them.  Three of my top four tough games are away games.  BTW, I think WVU will be a very tough game...it just happens to be fifth on my list.

Okay, I thought about it some more, and moved Pitt down to 5th.

Here are what I think will be the toughest games for us to win, in order from hardest to easiest:

1. Auburn SEC game at Jordan-Hare

2. West Virginia they want revenge for last year's beating

3. Rutgers at Rutgers

4. Louisville they will be game-on by the end of the season.  No sign of defense

5. Cincinnati inconsistent, but you can't count them out for the upset.  Playing pretty good offense and defense so far

6. Pittsburgh last game of season and it's cold in Pittsburgh

7. UCF close game with Texas

8. Florida Atlantic playing well so far this season

9. Connecticut

10. North Carolina

11. Syracuse

12. Elon IAA
Moved Pitt down to 6th

Switched Louisville and West Virginia

Switched FAU and UCF

By game 3, I did not expect to see Louisville's defense performing so poorly.

I've been very impressed with Cincinnati's offense and defense.  That will be a tough game.

And, UCF impressed me with how they kept up with Texas.

Third game?  Their defense has been horrible since game one!

He meant that he thought by the third game their defense would be better.

Agreed. I figured Louisville would have had a wake-up call after game 1, but they continue to struggle on Defense which will ultimately be their undoing (as we say in this weeks result). Offensively they are still one of the best in our conference though, so don't underestimate them ... it's a good thing we have two of the best DBs in the conference/NCAA too. ;-)

I've been very impressed with Cincinnati's offense and defense.  That will be a tough game.

See this is where you and I differ. While they look good in their games on paper, I am not sold on Cincy just yet. They haven't played anyone to give them a real challenge yet. After a conference game (against WV, Louisville, Rutgers or us) or a team with at least an average/good offense or defense then I'll assess them. Until then, I'm just keeping my eye on them and seeing what happens.

And, UCF impressed me with how they kept up with Texas.

Correction: You were surprised by how well UCF kept up with Texas (but then, so was I) ...

I think Cinci will be more tough than most people think. Better offense than last year and real good defense. I think it will help that we will be a)looking for revenge, b)home game, and c)homecoming. I think by the time we play them, we will be ready; but with that said it might be one of the toughest home games... before everybody calls me a nut-job, hear me out. WV and 'Ville are very good teams, but have no defense. I think we can match them point for point any day. Cinci has a decent offense, but a defense that is ranked near the top...I think the fact that we moved the ball pretty well against an Auburn Defense, @ Auburn is going to help us a TON for the game.
