Friends,

Marshall has great tradition, history, and a excellent W/L percentage.  They have played West Virginia (annually) for years.  We should strongly promote Marshall being "captured" by the Big East NLT 2009.  They are capable of competing in the BCS and will add strength to the BE position.

Next, after Marshall commits, look for Navy to soften up to the idea some.  With these two schools in by 2011 the BE will surely become a more powerful conference.

If WVU message boards are to be believed Marshall will never be invited.

WHy are people trying to expand the BE so much?

Marshall and Navy will not help the BE to become a power conference...

Marshall will float around with 'Cuse and UConn and navy might challenge for 4th place.

I like the Big East the way it is right now and don't want to add another team.

I agree, SeaBull.

The BigEast does not need to expand.  I think it should not expand.  Louisville and WVU would have been in the BCS title game if they had gone undefeated, and *gasp* they only played seven conference games and five non-conference games!!!!

Not likely to happen anytime soon.  Their academic standards were cited as the reason why the were not included in the last expansion.

Friends,

......They have played West Virginia (annually) for years.

Might want to check your facts again.

From 1924 to 2005...WVU and Marshall played ONCE...thats ONE TIME (in 1997).

Now...with the WV's Gov's help...WVU and Marshall signed a 4-2 (7) game series that started last year...and whoever wins the best out of the first 3...will get the 7th game at home (most think WVU will have 5 home games..Marshall just 2).

Both WVU and Marshall started their football programs back in the late 1890's...but for decades and decades...WVU refused to play Marshall...especially after the 1920's.

I personally prefer ECU or UCF over Marshall if the BIG EAST were to get a ninth team.  ECU has a good coach in Skip Holtz that is getting ECU strong again.(also, USF has some history with playing ECU) UCF is investing in their facilities showing that they want that BCS bad.( Also, it will ensure that USF will get to travel to Orlando every other year which is good for our fan base) Not sure if Marshall will be the same since Pruitt left the program. Marshall has been bad the past few years.

And remember, it seems that "WHEN" the Big East expands ... seems it will be for football only.

I am also in no hurry to see it expand, but would prefer ECU/UCF over Marshall ... but am not excited about any of them.

Traveling to Marshall every other year doesn't seem appealing  ;)

Sorry Marshall.    :'(

Mickey T. has stated that no team out there brings enough to the table to be considered.

Right now it seems to be Notre Dame or no one.
