I believe that our basketball team is much like their football team (pre-Schiano).  We may not have nearly the kind of history that the other Big East teams have, but we just need that special coach that can get it done.  RMC obviously isn't it.  It kind of reminds me of when RU had Terry Shea.  Who wouldve ever guessed that Rutgers would be a national power in football?  This was the same program that lost to a 1-AA team (new hampshire, i think?) Schiano's 1st year.. it reminds me of the bball team's loss to TAMU-Corpus Christi.  Hell, RU is doing an even better job than us in football and they had to shake 100 years of negativity!

I hope Woolard will make a wise decision and the next coach in line will be like what Schiano is to Rutgers football.  Besides, Woolard came from a basketball school, so I'd assume he'd know what kind of BBall talent to bring in here.  I think it's a forgone conclusion that RMC is out.  I'm excited about a new coach.

From the dept of bad examples.  Schiano's record at Rutgers:

2001 2-9; 0-7 Big East

2002 1-11; 0-7 Big East

2003 5-7; 2-5 Big East

2004 4-7; 1-5 Big East

I wonder how special he would be to USF Darksiders after the first 4 seasons.

2005 7-5; 4-3 Big East

2006 11-2; 5-2 Big East

He's starting to keep alot of the New Jersey talent in state which helps a ton.  Really only Charlie Weis and the Irish out recruit RU in New Jersey.

Can't compare football and basketball in my book. Football requires at least 5-6 good players on each side of the ball to even look decent. Basketball requires 1-2 good players and 4-5 solid role players.

It's MUCH tougher to build a football team than basketball team.

Ya if USF spent like hell on their basketball program, they could have a chance.

Getting a group of 35-40 guys to play in one game is much much harder than amassing 7-8

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Act like you’ve been there before. Turns out, for many of us, we haven’t been there before.
