Guest
Believe me, a football field can fit inside of the Trop....as a member of the HOT, I marched an exhibition there for some big HS band competition. The field was oriented down the 1st base line. Both teams sidelines could be on the outfield side of the football field. I think in bowls played in San Fran, there are temporary seats on the outfield sideline as well.I'm not saying it's not technically possible... The right field line is 322 feet from home plate -- a football field is 360 feet. Is there 38 feet from home plate to the backstop?? I don't think so.Now, left center and right center are 370 feet... so you could have a field that goes straight out from home plate ... but the stands would be so far from the field and there are no fans in the far endzone. The problem would be that any realistic alignment would involve making some renovations to the building -- even if the renovations are temporary. That cost might be too much for a bowl game to be successful.

It doesn't look like it on TV but its bigger than you think.

Won't happen, the navy deal was for one year only. We're looking at one of 2 scenarios. Scenario 1: 2 BCS teams, BE #3 to Gator/Sun (probably Sun, unless a 10-2 USF is #3, then we might get gator) #4 Charlotte, #5 International #6 Birmingham/whatever is left over. I don't think the bham bowl has to take mac, they only have that option. Scenario 2: 1BCS team (most likely), #2 Gator/Sun, probably Sun. #3 Meineke, #4 Intl, #5 Bham/whatever is left over.
