The two players officially will be added to Denver’s roster at the end of the 2006 NFL season in February.

Guest BasketBull.
I don't understand this "future contract" business. He's under contract all ready. So why another contract? And what's the point of adding them to the roster after the season when they have to compete again in the fall?I'm just glad it's positive news. The guy had paid his dues. Future contract means a contract for next season which is a good sign since right now teams like Denver which didn't make the playoffs are cutting dead weight to make room under the salary cap for next year. Signing him to an extension means they see a real future for him on their team. Andre finally settled into a team where he has a chance since Denver has had trouble finding a consistent RB in their system with Tatum and Mike Bell being injury prone and wildly inconsistent, and I could easily see him sharing time with Tatum next season providing Denver doesn't sign another player. He's now on their regular roster and not a practice squad guy.

He was signed to the practice squad, which is the equivalent to working for a temp agency. Any other team could have signed him to a regular contract without negotiating with the Broncos. The futures contract locks him into the Broncos for '07 unless and until they release him.

He may make the team, but all teams usually sign a few of their PS guys to future contracts.

Guys they want more time to evaluate and not allow them to be on the open market. This should send a message that Andre Hall impressed them enough to keep him around. Furthermore with less then stellar RB situation in Denver Andre could work his way in. He couldn't ask for anything better at this point and Denver is the perfect team since they're not real high on any of their current RB's right now.
