Hey, build a new super stadium. Football, with adjoining baseball and softball complex. It would be the only one in the nation. Bill it as BULL Land! Have classrooms built around the football stadium so that the state pays for it. Make the softball and baseball stadiums the rivals of any complex in any college venue. Make it so that the only thing that people say when they see this complex is Holy Sh..!

Add to that 4 strip clubs and 8 bars that adjoin the other side of the football stadium and beer taps at every parking space with a bridge over the road to our on campus casino.

This is season ticket brochure for UT women's basketball... our men's team would kill for this kind of support.  You can't sit in the lower level without being a donor, and the building is almost twice as big as the Sun Dome.  And since UT women's and men's athletics are different departments, you have to donate to women's alone to get priority.

I'll keep checking for other ones like this, particularly non-baskebtball.  As for the argument that it's like winning the lottery, that's just stupid and here's why.  To be Division I you have to sponsor at least 14 sports.  To comply with Title IX you have to equally upgrade facilities and give both men's and women's teams the same amenities and support, as well as work toward proportionality.  What are you going to do.. let everyone except football and men's basketball (and women's basketball because you're legally obliged to give them fair treatment) play in squalor while the traditional revenue sports get everything they want?  You have to maintain facilities for everyone.  And a new facility will make donations rise as well as fan interest.

Bob starting football was necessary, but it hit the Olympic sports hard.  They have been patiently waiting their turn, and they should start to see the rewards for having to suffer cutbacks while watching football grow.  We needed football to become bigtime, but now it's getting close to the time where football will need to start giving back instead of just eating the whole pie it generates.  Of course the NCAA could jump in and cap football scholies at 65 instead of 85 and solve most of these problems... :)

Oh yeah, we also need to double Coach Mac's budget so he can compete in the best basketball conference ever created, as well as pay off the debt on the new facility.  I figure $20 million would be a good start... Smazza how's the new job paying??  You want to kick off the checkwriting?   ;D

Is that the football team that every other sport gets to watch play at somebody elses facility or is it the football team that was able to bring in a state of the art athletic center for everyone to use?

Sorry but I have to agree with Brad, the other sports had how many years to succeed before football was an issue? As long as football continues to prove success in bringing in the fans and the dollars as well as the performance on the field I can't see any reason to redirect those funds to the other sports. The money will come but like it or not it will come from football and the other sports should wait until the time that football is at a point that it can start spreading out it's wealth to other areas.

Looks like Coach Crybaby, oops, Erickson, spent too much time with the Tribune and not enough time preparing for the NCAA's.

Well, its the bottom of the 7th, and we're beating UF 8-1.  He lost to Oregon, but there's still hope.

You also have to give Erickson's crew credit.  If they finish off UF tonight they will be one of the first USF programs to take TWO games in a season from the evil empire to our north!

Good for Erickson.  Someone needs to be a squeaky wheel, and get the new AD to realize that this program, and Athletic Department need to start thinking big business, and bigtime Athletics.  He needs to demand more than passive support from the University Administration, he needs to get creative, and start bring this Athletic Department into the level of bigtime thinking.  If he comes in knowing that some of his coaches are frustrated and in dire need of improvements then he will hopefully be fast acting, and start making the moves and push necessary to get there.

We need to stop thinking small time.  We need to stop fundraising when its needed, we need to stop thinking small time, we need to start thinking into the future, we need to stop requesting and hoping but rather demanding for more, and get a little risky, and daring.  It's not a stretch, its easily done, and it just requires aggressiveness, and proactive thinking.

diana taurasi looks like a man.

sheriff the girls in zona look like  girls and they are hot

the law says we will have to upgrade girls facilities equally so do it when we do baseball

as a fan I feel like bulliever but as an alumni I think we have to upgrade ALL sports. That was one of pitches of football that it will bring in money to help other sports.

coach E is probably frustrated. He has done a marvelous job

The ineresting thing is I've spent more time reading about this issue than I have watching womens softball. When I check the Big List of Things To Do For USF Athletics, attending a girls softball game is nowhere to be found.

This is not a "build it and they will come issue". I don't care how nice of a facility you build, it's not the facility that brings in or keeps out paying attendees...it's the sport itself. So you're building a facility - in this case - strictly for the players.

I know, I know...there's probably more testosterone coming through than we'd generally like, however, I barely squeeze in a few baseball/basketball games per season, and never attend [insert girls sport here]. Don't think that this is a "Tampa Bay" issue. It's strictly a USF womens athletics issue.

Put it next to the dodge-ball field. ;)
