Even though we have left CUSA, for personal reasons I have checked their board from time to time and at least once a month (usually more) there is some derogatory comment made about USF in the Big East and how the mighty putrid purple pirates should be there and not us.  The links above are only the most recent.  

Let me get this straight.  They are 0-3 against USF.  Can't beat WVU, which we did, and yet somehow they "deserve" to be there instead of us.  Riiiiiiight.

ECU fans, get back with us when you have beaten top 10 teams in back to back years.  Until then, go talk smack to some CDOA program.

Unreal! The ECU banter never stops! My Gosh People from ECU. The reason your school was not picked is simple. 1. You were not good enough, (except maybe for BBall. Your coach Bobby is a class guy.) and 2. You didn't have the $$$ to pony up! Guys, USF is a bigger, has more of a research and technology base, and can grow with the needs of the Big East situation. ECU just can not! Be happy you are in the CUSA. It could be a lot worse. You could be in the Sunbelt. If it comes to playing you however, it will be a good game no matter what. 2 years before the Big East shake out went down ECU was coming off the most successful decade in school history, and we had had great season top 25 finishes and wins long before then.

In the 10 years from 1991-2000... ECU was 70-45 overall 26-26 vs the Power conferences without a big time conference to help recruit with beating schools like Miami (twice) Syracuse (three times) West Virginia (twice),Pitt (Twice) NC State (3 times) Virginia Tech (Twice) S. Carolina (5 times) Stanford (in a Bowl) Texas Tech (in a bowl) to name a few, and we did it mostly on the road. We won a top level new years day Peach bowl in those days as well as competed in a couple of and won a Liberty in a time when "mid majors" didn't even go to bowls. We defeated 7 top 25 schools in those 10 years, (including a couple of top 10 Miami teams) and we finished in or around the top 25 about half of those years including a #9 national finish and a #23 national finish as well as three other times receiving votes in the final polls, 2 years with-in 2 spots of being in the top 25. Timing everything, you guys got us in a couple of our bad seasons. I really hope we get you guys now after seeing this thread and you show this lack of reguard. NC State, Virginia, and S. Miss already made that mistake this year.

Even right now NO non- BCS school has beaten as many BCS schools in the last 10 years as we have.

Hey still. The problem is you purple pirates that have been talking trash about how USF is "nobody". Your 7-5 in what is arguably the worst conference in college football, we dont give two bullshits about what you did in the mid 90's, cause guess what year it is?

On a side note, why havent you guys "toughened" up your mascot. I know news takes a while to get to East North Carolina, but the whole 70's disco fag thing is past its prime.

It's always hard to follow r to the izzo, but yes Jonesie, I remember you guys being good a little while beofre you joined C-USA...since then, I haven't seen much.

It'll be nice to see some old conference mates in Birmingham.  While I prefer So. Miss, playing the men in purple sashes beats playing Rice.

Instead pointing the finger at USF for getting in the Big East maybe you all should ask yourselves what can ECU do better to get in a better conference.  Hell, if we want to talk history then Army and Navy deserve it more than USF or EZU.
