We wait 6 weeks for him to return and then we don't use him.  I'm not going to knock Williams, but he is a walk on and he doesn't hit the hole as quickly as Ponton does.

Personally I have always felt that Ponton is a better 3rd Down/Change of Pace back, and not a primary runner. When we get Plancher back next year he'll be the primary runner with Ponton spelling him.

Isn't Plancer smaller than Ponton? We'll need an effective running game from our RB's if we ever expect to run the Spread offense correctly. It'll take a lot more pressure off Grothe in the next few years.

Yes, It's an unusal role for a bigger back to be the 3rd Down/Change of Pace, but the Spread allows that to happen, because it's an offense built on speed and getting the balls to your playmakers.

he will get the mojo back

When has he ever had Mojo.  He had a 100 yard game against a team that Bo Williams could have gotten one against.  ricky hasn't done anything spectacular in my eyes.  if he doesn't get atleast 100 yards against the Syracuse Sieve then I'm going to question his playing time against Plancher next year.

Go Bulls!!

Plancher was ahead of him before he got hurt. The real question is how well he comes back from that significant injury and also who we recruit.

Ponton is extremely athletic but I don't see him being any better than the other backs until he makes better reads.

Thats the fat ass up in the booth. He lucks into wins like this one and people sing his praises. Its disgusting how bad he is. But hey, the man crush CJL has on him will keep his job safe.

The Jim Leavitt dog house is a bad place to be, apparently.

Plancher was ahead of him on the depth chart because the coaching staff knew Ponton was going to be suspended.  We'll never know who the coaching staff really thought was better.  With Plancher coming off knee surgery, we have a long way to go until we see who the primary ball carrier will be next season.  Don't forget Aston Samuels and Keely Dorsey.  They could work themselves into bigger roles next year as well.
