I hate to say it, but I am not too happy

I am not happy with the hire either.  I said from the beginning I DIDNT want a SLU hand me down.  This guy hasnt been around college football for 10 YEARS!!  This is a bad hire.  Of all the candidates USF once again goes with a choice no one expected.  So far the only hire I have been pleased with is JL and LRS.   Why go with a non football guy from SLU?  What has SLU done athletically in the past 10 years???  Not much that I can think of.

they've only won CUSA tourney, went to the NCAA's, something we haven't done, and haven't done in ages, respectively.

You don't really need to be around football to be able to understand the business side... Woolard has loads of experience and has been around football prior to SLU.

And he's done this at a small, private school.

Give the guy a chance.  Obviously, the committee and Judy see something in him that appeals to them.

I trust their descision.

Also,

Lets see, we hired a co-defensive coordinator from K-State, a former NFL player and banker, and a head coach from a MAC school.

Two out of the three have been great hires and the jury's still out on the third.  So far, USF seems to know what it's doing.

There is nothing wrong with not liking every choice we make at USF. Personally I have some concerns over this hire (as noted in a different thread) but the decision is made and I just hope that my concerns are unfounded.

Mike, your right that we have much less information then the comittee did to form our opinions and I'll just trust they had some good reasons for this choice and expect he will end being a top knotch AD.

The man hasn't even started the position and people are saying they don't like him.

Why??  What do they know that the committee didn't know or Judy??

I am absolutely facinated at the lack of patience by some members on this board.  Are they expecting to become National Champions overnight with a BIG NAME AD?

Like any decision, time will tell, but I would have felt more confident hiring an AD from a school with a solid football program. LRS has worked wonders so far, hope this new guy can keep us moving in the right direction.

I don't believe anyone is saying they don't like him or the job that he hasn't done here yet.

In my case (admitedly based only on what is publically known) I am concerned over his qualifications and experience. I am not and I don't believe most are saying he will fail but instead are just expressing that they are worried about this hire.

There are basically 3 kinds of fans here, those that can't see anything negative we do, those that can't see anything positive we do and those that try to be more moderate. It is those moderates that I think can indicate how most are feeling about a particular decision and in this case it does appear to me that most of those in this category have concerns.

Unfortunately expressing concerns to those that really hate to hear anything negative get's exaggerated to the extent that all of a sudden this concern is interpreted as bashing or not supportive etc...

He needs to come hot out of the box. Get things going here and have people see the changes right away! Otherwise, he'll be a Judy pawn. Start making USF a power to be known. I will give him his chance and support him. GO BULLS!!!   Reaper

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
