everytime you talk about a florida team (or atleast the outside world does) they mention SPEED!!!

why are we so much faster down here?  is it because we grow up running on swamp land?  the heat?  genes?  humidity?  all the orange juice?

if you look at any school in florida or the guys from florida who are in the NFL...their biggest attribute is speed.

why?

I don't totally believe the theory ... I think it's just that there are more fast football players in FL than most states ... similiar to CA & TX.

It seems from the fact that the great Florida teams of the 80s and into the 90s and 2000s were all built on speed. Whereas other great schools of the era such as Nebraska, Oklahoma, etc. were all built on power.

College football has changed, it's all speed for the most part now.

IMO, the people from north don't run in snow for 1/2 season.  In  southwest, too dry and too hot, nose bleed.  Okla, Texas, Neb where there are many farmers.  they have players with strong legs.  Ya know the wishbone formation with bulk linemen and bulk leg of runners ie) Earl Campbell to Ricky Williams.  Here in southeast, of course people still go outside activity all season with plenty of drinks.

It is from running in sand...   Yep, everyone knows there is no sand in TX or LA!

Mud can be harder to run in than sand.   :-)

[smiley=smiley_up.gif]

That's similar to our 1999 Home Opener against SW Texas St. 4get teh name of the storm.

There are more players in TX, CA & FL ... when you have more players, there will be more speed.

    We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

    “This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
