West Virginia doesn't hold up to the hype. It seems like everyone is relying on WVU and Louisville to carry the Big East this season...but if you look at West Virginia I think they may not live up to expectations. What would that mean for us?

It's mean that there's an opening for us to step up and grab the glory.

The good news is, there's two BE teams that are clearly on the national radar.  If one falters, we need the other to perform as expected... but it also opens up a slot for another team to get on that radar.

We need to be opportunistic if that situation arises.

We need to make the situation arise.  It is within our power.  We do play UL and WVU in back to back weeks to end the season.

As long as they don't fall off the map (which I doubt) I don't think it would be a big deal.

My worry is more on the will a 11-1 Texas, Ohio State, etc. get the BCS Title nod over an undefeated WVU? I think they would...that would be a HUGE blow to the Big East.

I was just talking about that last night as a possibility, that would hurt...

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone in the BE goes undefeated.

11-1 in a "stronger" conference may get the nod. It's still a perception game. I know we've run that one into the ground, but that's a fact.

Listen to the perception, even on this board. It was not a great team that beat L'ville last year, it was a weak team that lost to Uconn.

If we play all third string vs. McNeese St. the perception will be that we're not that strong. USF and the rest of the BE must win our out of conference games.

GO BULLS!

Perception maybe...but honestly some BE teams are not doing perception a favor by playing the schedules they are...or by going 5-14 against other BCS teams last year.

WVU's schedule is very sad. In fact they play THREE bowl teams from last year. If they don't run the they don't deserve to go to the national title game plain and simple.

Going 11-1 with Ohio State's schedule (@ Texas, Penn State, @ Iowa, and Michigan) is much different than 11-1 with WVU's schedule.

Plain and simple if the BE wants to earn a better perception, they have to win games against teams from other BCS conferences.

That's why I say even beating each other does'nt make the BE look better.

We absolutely MUST win ooc.

BE team cannot be in the title game with one loss unless everyone else has two losses.  IMO, BE SOS & national perception is to weak to overcome a P10, B10, ACC, or SEC BCS SOS with equal wins.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
