before we put a mature team on the field.  It seems like the past few years we have remained a young team.   We must have a tremendous turnover in players, but I would guess it is due to the jump to 1A followed by the jump to CUSA and the junp to the Big East with BCS status.

Are we at a peak now and it is only a short time until our team is loaded with upper classmen or do we still face several years in which our talent level keeps getting higher as the team grows in prominence?

I'd give it about two years (this season and next) before I'd apply the term "mature". On the other hand...we all know what happens when the starting lineup is laden with seniors... ;)

we need atleast 3 or 4 years with BCS recruiting to get guys that are good fits and can stay on the field long enough to become mature at this level.

It's not about youth or maturity it's about talent. A good combo of young and old talent can win a lot of games if you have the right playmakers on both sides of the ball. For years we have had playmakers on the defensive side of the ball (Woods, Henry, Reed, Nicholas) but on offense we haven't had a balanced set of player makers since Blackwell and Rubin graduated. Fisher and Hall were electric playmakers but they didn't have any help throwing the ball.

2007 will be a far more 'mature' team.

Talked to CJL today and he said our team was "young" but still was really playing well. Our defense is looking strong but he says next year we'll be unstoppable.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
