No one wants to hear it, but UCF is the best fit.  UCF is going to be a program on the rise in the coming years.  Plus it adds another market in Florida, so the northern teams wouldn't mind traveling once a year to either UCF or USF.  Everyone's hatred for the Knights is blurring their view of a viable candidate for that other spot in the conference.  Notre Dame is not coming.  Any school in the ACC is not coming.  So, it only leaves a few schools in the mix.

I don't forsee anyone coming for just football. one-sport conference affiliations are usually when the original conference either does not field the sport in question or does not field it at the level of the rest of the conference (as with the BE schools with IAA football). As far as fit, the schools that I believe would make the most sense are those in locations that would bridge the gap between us and our closest foe in Louisville. This leaves us largely the ACC and SEC, neither of whom I see budging, a few C-USA teams (ECU, UCF, Memphis), Sun Belt's Middle Tennesee ( ::) ) or someone making the IAA-IA jump. I say we're fine where we are, unless we can lure ND, who would be fools to join.

Outside of ECU, NO North Carolina based school will leave the ACC.  Those schools are all joined at the hip and work together.  The ACC is too stable for any of them to want to leave.

Temple is already joining football only in the MAC.  If the Big East wanted them bad enough, they might have to work some sort of payment to the MAC.

You need to stop thinking other BCS schools will join.  They won't.  The only SEC team that wants to leave is Arkansas and it's to only joing the Big XII.  The ACC is in great shape and needs to tweaking.  The Big Ten might get one more, but no one will leave.

At this point, due to the decision to wait on extra members, the only two options is to hold out until the split or bring up a I-AA school, which is a very bad idea.

Agreed with no NC school leaving the ACC, though I could see State if any (and only for the sake of argument, cuz that's not happening either) to distance themselves from being the red-headed stepchild of the Triangle.

U. Central Florida will most likely be invited for football only.

Sorry, but UCF is in no position to accept a football only invite.  Maybe before we joined CUSA, but not now.

ftu/ou/oc would never be invited to big east

their history of 30 years of failure is not attractive to northeast markets

ND will never come....Temple was kicked out and wont be back...FIU/FAU too small and not enough talent...UCF wont do it..they just got in their conference...that leaves ECU...but how are their opther sports...in recent years their football hasnt been up to par either..plain and simple ND is a Big 10 team just as much as Michigan or Ohio State..NEVER will they be willing to play 8 teams from thBE every year...think about it....play Cincy every year or play Mich. every year...play Purdue every year or play UCONN every year.....yea thats out of the question...it would be considered a step down for them
