Bullsfan, comparing a school like OU, Nebraska, Penn State, or Florida to our spring attendance is redicules. Those programs have national recognition and have been in the spotlight for years. Further they have developed generations of fans. Has nothing to do with their marketing...

Thats the best part for schools like that, marketing their football team easy, most those teams would have 80,000 fans show to watch them play by themselves if the game counted. Much less the 40-60,000 they bring for a meaningless spring game.

All I've seen so far is the date, time and locale of the Spring Game.

I haven't heard - one way or the other - if there are other events associated with the game this year or not. Seems like they had some measure of entertainment last year.

There was a time when schools like OU were very creative in marketing their teams to the community and to the student body....and they still don't sit on their ass and "wait for them to come"....

The Sooners spring game is totally different today than it was 40 years ago.   When their student body was 1/5 th of what USF (Tampa) is today they were putting as many   students in the stands as USF does today.and students had to purchase their tickets

You don't build community and student support by sitting on your ass and saying  "they will come."...you embrace and entice them.

The successful programs of today started at square one just like USF did 10 years ago.

USF doesn't have to be innovators today,  they could just copy and adapt what the big boys have done and are doing.  Excuses won't put bodies in the seats.

Contrary to what you seem to think OU, PS,  and others didn't build stadiums with people in the seats..

Link? ..............

Comparing OU's situation in Norman, OK to USF's in the Tampa Bay area is absurd. I'm sure way back when, the OU administration had to really market the hell out of the football team because of all the other distractions going on in NORMAN Oklahoma ..........  ::)

Rant and rave all you want, Football in April is worth the drive from Orlando.

Especially so we can expand the lil ole Orlando group from 12 seats to 16 seats.

This game will be interesting because of the transfers and because we get to see moise plancher.  RB depth is a bit worrisome without simpson since we will have to use at least one of the freshmen.

I really like Ponton and have only heard great things about Plancher.

???

Why did Penn State add more seats to get about 110K ? Speculation? LOL - They had a waiting list and still do.

What kind of marketing does South Carolina do to get all those seasts sold out ?

blah blah blah  ::)

There should be a whole lot more to a Spring Game than just the scrimmage on the field.

USF needs to learn to market it's football  program to the community.

It should be a Spring Football Fan Event not just a intra-squad scrimmage.

IMO the Jim Leavitt Spring Practice Game is dullsville and does nothing to promote Bull's football.

I agree in some aspects, that we could make the Spring Game much more entertaining.  However, we do have FAD in August for us to meet the players, get autographs, pictures, etc.  Do other schools have FAD?
