why are we getting this worked up over a freshman kicker?

And there seems to be 2-3 new posters about it this topic ... the people talk about what they want.

This is Hot Button for the off-season.

bulls kicking game is strong at kick off- field goalds and

points after. we need help at qb and a little help with

recievers holding on to the ball. so with a good kicking

game .it would be a mistake not to do whatever it takes

to keep the kicking game in place .kyle and justin .be

proud. you did a jamup good job this season

What stands out to be is that Teachey keeps getting bundled into this Bronson deal.  Am I imagining this, or is there reason to believe he may take the Bronson route?  Seems to me there might be some tag team action going on...

when it all comes down to it.....

Bronson did so well because he was perceived as a walk-on.  a free-bee.

if that was a scholarship kicker and he missed that kick in the bowl game people would be questioning our strength at that position.

there is a reason why college kickers are often walk-ons.

like i said before...if bronson leaves...good luck but you will be leaving your best chance you have to play major college ball...over what?  if you were a decent high school student then you have florida bright futures anyway and your family only has to pay about $500 a semester.

The game of college football has evolved into where kickers are a big part of the game as seen in many bowl games this season that were won and lost by kickers, so you want seasoned kickers in position to do the job. It's not a kicker controversy here, Bronson and Teachey are good friends on and off the field and have worked hard to earn the jobs they have and if one earns both they are happy for the other. I'm sure it's just a slap in their face to have other kickers get scholarships and they don't get one, even if it's a partial one. Teachey's name comes up because all you hear about is Benzer and he wasn't a starter. As far as the fresman kicker

and all the hype about it, all 3 kickers were freshman w/only 1 of them being a true freshman, since you have no upper classman being a kicker it is a big deal. Yes bright futures pays for 75% of the tuition but if you are from out of town then you have living expenses too.

Yes Bronson did miss a field goal in the bowl game but what did the the rest of the offense do, nothing. He is not a free bee as you say it was because all players whether scholarshipped or not still have to do the same as other players in practice and want to be rewarded for it. Kickers are scrutinized more than other players when they do bad it is all their fault but if the do good then they get the glory.
