An RFP just went out for 120 acres to create a mixed use community with entertainment purposes, housing ECT. Construction could start as early as 2025.      I'm a big urbanest guy who is loving all the new developments in Tampa from Water Sstreet to Gas Worx, Ybor Harbor, the redevelopment of the Central City YMCA in Tampa Heights and on and on. This one by far has me most excited.    USF is really becoming a destination

And because USF owns the property - it will be a revenue generator for the school. Hopefully it will be somewhat affordable and more students than not fill the development. Give us plenty of sustainable college bars too, all the ones "in the area" turnover quite frequently. Make these ours for decades.

That would be nice.  Hopefully they don't just slap in some agreeable gray Soviet buildings with the latest mason jar hibiscus cocktails and Korean BBQ underneath.

Didn't the affordability for students cause suitcase city in the first place? Wouldn't it have to be strictly student housing?

It would be great if they saved space for a retail front to help the USF Hospitality (Tampa) and Brewing Arts (from St. Pete Campus) programs.  A microbrewery would be awesome!

I'm not sure but that's a good point. I think c owns a few off-campus multifamily complexes, but do not know if they are 100% student housing or not.

For the Brewing Arts, saying this completely obviously to the program, but I would imagine they focus on small batch brewing. Having a place to "dispose" of the beer will be a great opportunity to modify recipes from small to large batches. Win Win for everyone. A nice Golden Bull Lager, or a South Florida Weisse, or even a Judy Genshaft Gose, for those still salty about her tenure.

It’s USF land. Just build upscale dorms above the retail for juniors, seniors and grad students only.

We're on the WEST coast of Florida. Absolutely MUST HAVE a good West Coast IPA... Not the hazy grapefruit stuff. 2¢

A nice Hoppy beer, perhaps a Jayden Reid IPA. They can even do a nod to Coach Golesh roots and do a Golesh Russian Imperial Stout. Lots of fun to be had.
