Exactly

Again, they are predicting who has the best chance of advancing and pulling off upsets if the get in based on measurable and metrics

You didn't read it or have reading comprehension problems.

"Our model’s basic power ratings peg the Bulls as just the fifth-best team and sixth-best Bracket Breaker in the conference."

How many World Series did Billy Beane and Moneyball win? Made a good story though.

It almost always ended up being a choke job

Was it a choke job or was it that we had terrible shooters?

When you have a lineup that averages 20% from deep and 50% from the FT line, you are going to lose games that a lineup that averages 36% from deep and 74% from the FT line won't.

Yeah, I think using "choke" sucks when describing most athletic situations. It's usually just that they weren't good enough to begin with ...

Oh you want to be a **** now.  My reading comprehension is just dandy.  Here's the title of the article:

American loaded with potential Cinderellas

Any thing else?

It was a stupid article but I would agree with the previous poster, your reading comprehension is suspect at best.  It is hard for me to pass up an argument even when not involved.  It said we were the 5th best team in the conference, we just got lucky.  I do agree with you that who gives a **** what these nerds have to say, we are winning and that is all that matters.

It is unsurprising that this analysis is down on USF given the number of games with huge point swings (complete comebacks and nearly blown big leads) this team has had this season. To have that number of games with huge swings is anomalous. To have won all of those games is even less probable. Call it luck, heart, “gritty not pretty” or whatever, but if one were to graph the number of teams with those in game swings and winning results, this USF team would probably be multiple standard deviations outside of the average outcome.

So they're saying we're the 5th best Cinderella and 6th best Bracket Breaker. Those aren't synonymous?

I dont believe we have the whole article but based on the title and the brief analysis we see, it appears the focus is on upsets in the NCAA tourney.  I know there is at least one other article out there about the success this model has had in the past with predicting tourney upsets.

Either way, who cares? the games are settled on the court and we control our destiny at the moment.
