Tampa, Fla. Feb. 12, 2024 – South Florida women’s basketball (14-11, 6-6) hosts Wichita State (7-17, 3-9) inside the Yuengling Center on Tuesday night. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will stream live on ESPN+.

 

SETTING THE STAGE

USF returns home as victors in three of its last five contests. Tuesday night’s matchup with Wichita State is their lone meeting of the regular season.

 

The shockers head to Tampa after topping Florida Atlantic, 67-56, in Boca Raton on Saturday afternoon.

 

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-WICHITA STATE SERIES

Tuesday’s meeting will be the 11th all-time pairing between the two programs, which extends back to the 1982-83 season. South Florida holds a 7-3 all-time advantage in the series. The last meeting was a 65-53 Shockers win on Mar. 7, 2023.

 

LAST TIME OUT

South Florida fell at Temple, 59-55 on Saturday afternoon. For the fourth straight game, three Bulls have scored in double-figures. USF is 6-3 when three performers finish in double-digit points. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy led all scorers with 26 points, which marked her sixth 20-plus point performance of the season. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt added her second straight double-double with 13 points and a career-high 19 boards. Sophomore wing Carla Brito (12 points) rounded out the Bulls in double-figures. Redshirt senior guard Aerial Wilson dished out six assists, and (455 Career Assists) is now tied in 9th with Katie Lou Samuelson (UConn, 2015-19) on the AAC Career Assists ledger.

 

BULL LEADERS

South Florida is led by freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh (14.4 ppg). Blasigh (65 3PM) is second among NCAA Freshman in total 3-pointers made. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy (13.5 ppg) is the second Bull averaging double-digit points. Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt leads on the glass with 8.0 rebounds per contest, which ranks 6th in the American. Redshirt senior guard Aerial Wilson dishes out a team-best 4.3 assists per contest. Wilson’s 108 total assists ranks third in the American. Wilson (455 career assists) is T9th on the all-time AAC Career Total Assists ledger.

Tuesday night’s contest is women’s basketball’s annual Equality and Inclusion Night which features a replica jersey giveaway for the first 1,500 Bulls fans while supplies last.

AAC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS

For the fourth consecutive year, The American's Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will be contested at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Championships expand to 14 teams this season with The Women's Championship running March 9-13. Ticket packages for the Women's Championship will be $85 per package. Before the game coach announced there was some injury and they would see how she was after warmups. Didn't see any wrapping on ankles, knees, arms or hands. He didn't go into any details.

Nice to be at a game where we weren't sweating it out all the way through. Just an observation on my part. I believe Levy needs to get a bit more of a breather in the first half. Seems like the last 2 games she's cooled off toward the end of the first half. I know there was foul trouble for Aerial and Evelein and she's our best player but an extra 2 minutes might help sandwiched around the break between quarters (or maybe around the media timeouts).
