It would appear they got who they wanted.  Why else make the offer?

They really wanted Mark Stoops but the boosters didn't agree ....

Fran Brown to the Cuse as head coach. Seems like a stretch hire. So do GA’s, treatment staff and even some top tier ball boys get chances to be head coaches now too?
