Is there a thread we can revive about how much better Tom Herman would have been here instead of CAG?

Well. CAG did get outcoached head to head. Can't blame those ones on the players.

Meh, Herman had his kids brainwashed with “rivalry” and being disrespected.

I think that may have been a bit overblown with some editing ....... but not much else was.

"By the end of the spring, Sanders had cut more than 50 players and another 20 left on their own in what is believed to be the biggest roster overhaul ever seen in college football. Sanders ended up with 86 newcomers on the 114-player roster, kicking off a season where the Buffaloes started 3-0 and were the talk of the nation for weeks before fading to a 4-8 finish, three wins better than last year but without a bowl trip."

Wow, had no idea that eventually happened, was more referring to the editing of that speech in front of the team ..... but if he really kicked 50 players off the team who wouldn't have gone otherwise, he's a bigger **** than I even thought.

That is true. Seems they treated the USF game like their SuperBowl.

We treated it like we had a hangover.

Because Deion has a strong personality and likes to project "swagger," people either love him or hate him. I'm not really a fan of his style, but I wouldn't have opposed him coaching at USF if it would have improved the program. But would it have? I think there are good arguments on both sides of that issue. We'll never know.

I like what I see in Golesh so far. If he picks up a couple of trophies, rebuilds USF into a long-term desirable destination for coaches and players, and makes us attractive to a P5 conference, he will have done his job. Not much more you can ask for at the G5 level.

While it's true Deion's record is skewed by the fact he's playing USC, Washington, etc., and not Memphis, Tulane, and SMU, people are more interested in wins than post-hoc rationalizations about the quality of the team's opponents. It's all too squishy and most people don't have time for that. If Colorado goes 4-8 and USF goes 8-4, all most people will remember or care about is how Colorado is a losing program and USF is a winning program, not who they played. The rest is just details, fair or not.

Which is another reason why, setting aside money (which is impossible to do really, but suspend disbelief for a moment), I'd rather be a consistent winner at the G5 level than a consistent loser at the P5 level (although of course being a consistent winner at the P5 level is the ultimate goal). And that's an achievable goal for USF, regardless of conference affiliation.

I think he would have been more successful here than CU, but I much rather CAGs swag.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
