interesting because he has yet to coach a game. Maybe they were talking about assistant coaches only? I wonder how many head coaches there are under 40 and what is their records?

At least going by one website I found, there may be 15-20 and like half of them had losing records. So even with a flat 0-0 record, he's in the middle of the pack without having coached a game

So it is basically  a participation trophy for coaches under 40.

It looks like the writer was including coordinators as well, but still. The site I found had like 12 or 13 head coaches under 40, but it also had them sorted by record, so it didn't have of the first-year head coaches. I don't know how many first-year coaches there are under 40.
