This could tumble down one of my slippery, semantical slopes in a hurry so I'll just agree that, for a team that has the record ours has had for the last 3 years, those attendance figures are indeed good in comparison ....

They are good in comparison period.   Compare apples to apples.  We are near the top of G5.  Considering our pitiful existence as a program those numbers are outstanding

They buy tickets or accept freebies. Doesn't mean they are showing up.

1 FBS win in 3 seasons and garbage the two seasons before that .... they're lucky anyone buys tickets, accepts freebies, or shows up

Everyone, literally everyone, goes by tickets sold/distributed.  So USF is no different than anyone else.  Look around at AAC stadiums and see what is announced compared to what is actually there.
