What a fickle business CFB is. Five years ago Herman could have had any coaching job he wanted. Now he supposedly gets passed over by a team that just went 1-11 and is desperately trying to regain a crumb of relevance on the national stage.

We will find out if this was a good play or not.  Just because someone is good doesn't mean that they are the best for a particular job at a particular time...

Lmao... yall are are crazy. If CJL comes back it will be as HC or at least higher than HC. Dieon hasn't done **** here... why would he be a DC to him?  No HC will hire CJL here as they will be calling for CJL at the first sign of failure.

I think Deion is a big enough personality to handle that.

He lacks the personality that fires up most of the shrinking base.

I am thinking any coach, not even sure it would matter which one (except Jim), would have to win first to build the buzz for the next season after that.  You need the Joe Bag o' Donuts to be saying "I heard USF is good again, derp" in the Tampa Bay pubs.  Deion brings the celebrity and skips all those steps to bring in a new fickle base.  You would have to hope to capture some of them like the Lightning do by providing a great experience when they come and check it out.

Agreed. There are only two options that would immediately cause a local surge and excitement. Deion and Jim. Anyone else will need to prove it first (not that that’s a disqualifer for the gig).

USF is ready to concede to Deion's demands with how everything is shaking out across other teams. Contract will likely be signed today but announcement may wait until Sunday/Monday. Sounds like the 8:00 AM Monday jokes might not have been too far off after all.

Translation. USF put all its eggs in one basket and doesn't have anybody to fall back on...
