Folks were saying for years that the Tampa and Orlando market would be a great package deal. 

It was always a silly idea. A program needs to stand on their own merit.

You are correct. The most important thing for USF is to win in football.

But the Tampa-Orlando market does matter. 

All signs keep pointing at the Big12 expanding to 14 for their new contract. They need markets after losing their biggest pieces.

The AAC going to 14 right away, is a sign that they may lose two more.

USF moving on the OCS is another sign, I don’t believe we would have ever moved on that unless we were being told by a Power conference that it was preferred or needed.

But most importantly we need to win in next two- three years because if the Big12 is adding two more for 2025-26 season we will hear by 2023

I am of the opinion that it was known behind the scenes for many months that it would be Houston, Cincinnati and ucf being invited to the Big 12, and the brass at USF was told that they may be considered in the next round if they could prove they were investing in their athletics.  The news of ucf passing us into the P5, was not going to go over well, so a commitment was made to turn around athletics, invest, and eventually get into the P5.  I would not have thought this last September, but ucf getting into a P5 conference, may be the best thing to ever happen to USF athletics, as it lit a fire under the administration and the BOT to get something done.
