So we hire a co coordinator from a championship team and people want him gone. We hire a head coach from a "lower" level and that didn't work here with Skip but did with Tags. Not sure what's left to try. Don't think there's a formula for finding a coach. Didn't B Kelly start at Cent Michigan?

You hire someone like O’Leary who was a hc at the top fired for some reason.

George O’Leary won a NC at Georgia Tech, fired because he lied on his resume, ucf picked him up.

He started their journey to the Big 12.

He was part of it. You think ucf would be in the aac without him? Or Frost would go there if they were still cusa?

You are wondering off your original question of what type coach should usf hire that would be successful. I gave you an example, a fired top tier coach. Mike Leach is another example.

Actually O’Leary did not win a national championship at Tech. That was Bobby Ross.

It was Bobby Ross not O’Leary.

Yeah, he left out some details like he was the DC and that it was Notre Dame which allowed him to resign.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
