The team he inherited last year did not have the foundation, or character, to respond to tough losses in a positive way. This year’s group, which has displayed the effort and maturity instilled by the 40-year-old former Clemson co-offensive coordinator as he continues to put his stamp on the program, responded to the adversity by quickly turning the page from Tulsa, but not forgetting the bad taste the defeat left.

“I have felt that this group is different,” said Scott. “But these are the weeks you have to show that difference. If we came out and had the same response as we did last year, then it is hard to say that we are really different. I expected them to play the way they did (Saturday night) because of how they have stuck together.”

What made Saturday night's win over Temple especially rewarding for Jeff Scott is that it came one week after what he said was of one of the toughest losses of his career.
