We had the same, or better, facilities when CJL and Willie were here so y'all can keep whining on and about facilities holding us back but it's just  a myth. We missed on coaches at the wrong time, plain and simple.

Are stadiums facilities bc we didn't  have that?

Agreed but other programs started investing in flashy things like IPF  and football centers for recruits while the current ADMIN neglected it. Sadly Willy left and lost more games than he won just like his career trajectory. I imagine he starts losing here after the recruiting class graduates, but we will never know.  Leavitt built USF FOOTBALL from trailers and nothing to the big east.  College football has changed since those days and the leadership at the school failed to go all in on athletics. The new players are spoiled compared to the OGS to big east days, but can't win. So the problem we now face is a coaching, players not producing, and athletic director not prioritizing winning problem.

Remember that scandal just a while back where all those rich folk were paying millions to get their kids into elite schools ...... This is the legal, college football version of that.

This kind of reminds me of the older days when USF was independent before being in C-USA officially. I believe USF went 9-2 and didn’t get a fair bowl invite. I think I remember a Seattle Bowl giving USF an option of paying them if they wanted an invite lol. Thankfully, USF was wise enough to say thanks but no thanks. I kind of like how USF handles things to be honest.

AN OCS is not a requirement to be a conference champion, a national champion, or even power status. IT is to build support  from the students, alumni, and local community. It doesn't help a team win any more games unless you got a solid coach and players that produce on the field.

I am blaming Judy because she did not invest in athletics when we were in the Big East and had momentum. SHe was the face of the university and chose to neglect athletics and fire Leavitt. Both parts of the equation bring us to the bottom of FBS football. The board who went along with it for years  under her leadership is also responsible.

It was more than Judy though. Those people need to be exposed bc it crippled this program and the greater Tampa area.

And it didn't seem to hurt those 2 successful USF coaches, did it?

SMU isn’t that valuable clearly since they have to forgive 9 years of revenue. SMU, Standord, and Cal hardly raise the ACC average school revenue which is why they are all not taking full revenue for a number of years. Stanford and Cal are only taking 30% in year one.

This is all about media deals, and these additions to the ACC are only to add new states to their TV network subscribers. It’s not about the schools being particularly great, the only deciding factor is their geography. Even then the ACC is not giving members equal revenue, because these new schools don’t add that much.

Don’t forget the Big10 and Big12 passed these schools over. The ACC is only taking them out of desperate to stay relevant faced with their own big revenue members looking for an exit.

Ballpark the percent of teams that have those that won national championship or conference championship over the last 100 years?

Tampa market, AAU status, strong recruiting grounds, emerging facilities are all great, but they are secondary to national notoriety. We have to find a way to build our brand. Teams who haven't won for years, like Miami (also no OCS) continue to be in discussions to joining the B1G or SEC based exclusively on their brand.

Interesting to think that with this arrangement by the ACC to add schools but withhold revenue for a really long time, future growth of their conference may be stunted as schools won't want to commit to that.  How can they get the best additions?  What if they lose FSU and Clemson?
