I think the problem is all sports. Its nots cost effective to have a cross country conference.  I think a more likely scenario is the American taking the remaining six teams in the Big 12 and have Temple and Tulane bow out of the conference.

More likely that the B12 remnants (Kansas, K State, WVU, Iowa State, Baylor and TCU) invite 4-6 other schools so they don't lose the B12 moniker and contracts. I think they add USF/UCF/Houston/Cincinnati/Colorado State and make a play for BYU.

It doesn't matter.  Even if the Big Ten were to evict Rutgers and/or Nebraska, it would help us.  Even if we had AAU status, why would the Big Ten get someone on a geographic island?

Here's how I see realignment:

Best bet:  Big 12

Best fit:  ACC

Most likely:  Oklahoma and Texas leave (maybe with OK State and Texas Tech in tow) and teams from the Big 12, MW, and AAC form a revamped Big 12 or something different.

KU could leave too

KU is AAU and are the only program where basketball alone could get them into the BIG 10

Something like this:

Big Mountain American Conference

West:  SDSU, Colorado State, Boise State, Nevada, TCU, Houston, Utah State, Air Force

East: USF, UCF,  Memphis, Kansas, Kansas State, WVU, Navy, UConn

Meh, I would rather be a replacement for the Big 12...it has a stronger brand than the AAC or a new conference.

The B12 is absolutely NOT a "power conference" if (or should I say "when") TX and OK leave. It would drop to G5 status and the P5 would immediately become the P4. As soon as the TV contract ended, the rump B12 would only get G5 money for renewals. It would be P4 and G6

I would MUCH rather be in a G6 AAC than a G6 B12

Not me, AAC will never pass the Big12 in brand awareness regardless who is in it.

Agreed.  The MWC was arguably stronger than the Big East when we were in the Big East, but didn't have the brand awareness.

and the BCS bid.  This all comes down to 2 things: TV money and a legitimate/auto shot at the national championship.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
