Heard from my Austin source. Phone conference early this week with all of the B12 members led by Bowlsby. Realignment related.#time4ucfusf

If we get in, I'm buying a BIG 12 PACK and pulling out my USF beer funnel :), this would be like getting freed from prison, except better

I haven't been paying much attention since they started blowing up the conferences, but I think that means we would get to play WVU again.  That would be cool.  We would have a couple built-in rivals there (WVU and UCF).  The rest of it would be weird, but hey I like most of those teams.

***EDIT***  These teams have been all offense and no defense lately... Food for thought...

So we can expect more tweets throughout the week to keep this thread on page one.... Great week for the board.

I've seen no evidence that conferences will insist the B12 add a CCG.

What evidence would you like to see?  A memo from Slive?  A press conference with the Florida AD?

I've outlined this numerous times.  It is a huge advantage for the Big 12 to not risk their regular season champion in a championship game.  Why should Alabama have to face Georgia or Florida in a CCG, but an undefeated Texas gets to skate into the playoffs?  Why should the SEC split their monies with 14 or 16 teams, and the Big 12 only splits it with 10.

Common sense dictates that they other four conferences won't let this scenario stand.  But there are LOTS and LOTS of rumors that this is exactly what is going to happen.  The Big 12 will continue to resist as long as possible, but in the end they will expand or lose a seat in the playoffs most years.

If you want evidence, don't read this thread.  If you want to discuss what might happen, what is likely to happen and/or what could possibly happen, this is the thread for you.

Playing a round robin schedule means UT can't escape playing the toughest B12 teams every season. 12+ team conference scheduling skews in-conference SOS, especially when one division is significantly stronger than the other. As the fan of a B12 South school, trust me on this. ;-) Besides, having a CCG can cut both ways. And did FSU really prove anything by beating GT in the ACC's CCG last season? Of course not.

Several conference commissioners and ADs have discussed forming D4 publicly but none have mentioned anything about members holding CCGs. I guess that's the evidence I'm looking for.

Personally, I'd like the B12 to expand to 12-14 teams IF the divisions can be competitively balanced. And maybe we have a rule that the balance is adjusted every 7-10 years.

I know you guys don't want to jinx us...or listen to twitter neers...but i 100% believe we will be playing a big 12 schedule by next year. Our dance partner is going to be either uconn, cincy, or ucf. I've even scheduled next years vacation for texas/okc in prep for an away game. I know its crazy, but im sure having a bad ass coach and  major media market will propel us to the promise land. We will be getting our azzes kicked the first few years however but thats a trade-off i'll take. AAC championship is like a pop warner trophy....no one would care.

The 2 red statements are contradictory .... Personally, I'm torn with the B12 situation. On one hand, odds are, if they don't expand, we don't get in the P5.  On the other, they are the only P5 with a true conference champion, having the season being a round robin tournament for the title.

You explained it much better than I did. Cheers.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
