When people do cheer our team has the ball and the QB is waving his hands down in order to quiet them and when it is third and long and the defense is jumping around waving their hands in the air trying to pump people up it sounds like you are at a funeral, only a little more quiet. I was a guest in the student section most of whom thought it was not cool to cheer or stand and many questioned when they could leave to go party or worse yet go watch the UFvsUT game :'( The worst part of the whole thing was besides the UCF section (of course they were a concentrated group of die hards since they traveled, as is the case with any visiting section we occupy) I think our student section was the most into the game as I do not recall any other section standing up and cheering on third and anything or fourth and anything for that matter. > I am glad that I am a fan of USF and not of our fans because while I tend to be excited about what we put on the field I am rarely ever excited about what we put in the stands, I only pray that one day as a group we will care more about USF football than beer and other games :'(

It was so frustrating for my group. We walked from the Mall Parking lot all the way to the Stadium chanting "0 and 17" and we couldn't get a single fan/group to join us. We try to rally the people waiting in line but they had as much spirit as my grandma does on ritalin.
Guest usf-ru
I was sitting with a USF/UF fan (seems these fan mixes are unavoidable) and he was saying that it takes time, years maybe, until the fans are properly trained on how to act. I find it rather frustrating. Some dude with horns on his head is orchestrating a group cheer WHILE WE'RE ON OFFENSE!

And if Im thinking about the same guy, he was doing that lame a$$ Gaytor cheer....two bits, four bits....yada yada yada. Hey I like trying to start new traditions, but I refuse to copy anything from that school.

It's worse there...at least it was about five years ago when I sat in a higher end donor section. Down on row 3 and the whole section was mum. I was however, proud to say that by the time I left Tampa and that section, half or so would stand and make some noise... Things will change...As silly as it sounds, I think many of the long time USF fans have an inferiority complex and are waiting until it is absolutely safe to be a 100% USF fan, forever swearing off previous allegiances to UF, FSU, etc... It may take a whole generation (or two) to develop a more vibrant fan base. We're a confused group of fans.

I'm not sure if they've been bitten by the "Bull Bug" much like some of the younger alumns have been. Older people don't do much cheering and screaming to begin with. While in Michigan, I got a chance to attend some Big 10 games and was surprised at how quiet some of the crowds were. Besides their student sections, you could almost hear a pin drop in other parts of their stadiums.
Guest Anthony Mozzicato
As a student sitting in the student section, I thought we were loud enough! Everyone got up and screamed their asses off for most of the game! Next Week will be much louder I am sure. I feel that fans of the older age show no emotions or excitement during the game. If my 50 year old father can cheer his butt off then I do not see why the whole stadium can get off their butt and make some noise. I remember us scoring our first few TD's and looked over to my right to see a whole section still sitting down just clapping! My suggestion is to put some electric shock to each seat so they are forced to jump up! Either way, proud to be a student for the USF Bulls. Student Section was great.
