With the Germany miracle victory Mexico has not clinched their way to the knock out stages.

Technically they haven’t. They need to win or tied their last game vs Sweden to make it through. That slip up by Sweden really complicated matters. South Korea has nothing but pride to play for, so I’m not sure how they’re going to look vs Germany. So teams like the role of spoiler, but some just pack it in early.

I wonder if Osorio will be content to get a goal and two then play defense. Basically trying to settle for a draw, or if he’s going to have them go for the jugular? Sweden should’ve swept the leg today. That turtling really hurt them

***Remember all kick offs for the final group games will be simultaneous. So everyone in the group will be playing at the same time.

  To recap thus far:

Group A

Russia & Uruguay each have 6 points, Russia leads based on goal differential. They will face off Monday to sort out who goes in which place. 

Saudi Arabia & Egypt are eliminated.

Group B

Spain & Portugal each have 4 points, and Iran has 3 points. Iran plays Portugal; Spain plays Morocco. Morocco is elminated.

Group C

France is through with 6 points, Denmark (4 points) could take the top spot. They play each other. Australia has 1 point so they would need so help to move on to the next round. Peru is eliminated.

Group D

The second spot in this group is wide open. Croatia is through with 6 points. They face off with Iceland (1 point). Nigeria (3 points) will face off with Argentina (1 point). These games should be intense!

Group E

Brazil and Switzerland are tied at 4 points a piece, Serbia has 3 points, and Costa Rica is eliminated. Brazil will face off against Serbia, and Switzerland will play Costa Rica. If both Brazil and Switzerland win their games goal differential will be the first tie breaker, Brazil is currently leading in GD by 1 goal.

Group F

This group just got a whole lot more interesting with that Germany win. Mexico is in the lead with 6 points, both Germany and Sweden have 3 points, and South Korea is eliminated. Mexico will play Sweden, and Germany vs South Korea. 

Group G 

England will play Panama tomorrow. Belgium is basically through to the next round, and Tunisia is eliminated. An England win will eliminate Panama.

Group H

This group will play tomorrow. Nothing can be discerned at this point.

Knock out round seeding is set as follows:

1A vs 2B

1C vs 2D

the winners of those games will face off in the quarterfinals.

1E vs 2F

1G vs 2H

the winners of those games will face off in the quarterfinals.

the opposite brackets are:

1B vs 2A

1D vs 2C

the winners of those games will face off in the quarterfinals.

1F vs 2E

1H vs 2G 

the winners of those games will face off in the quarterfinals.

There is also a third place game for the teams that lose in the semifinals.

Full disclosure my brackets have been busted for the most part. This World Cup has been really good with a lot of chaos. I’ve been amazed at how competitive things have been.

I’m going to project the quarterfinals after the Colombia vs Poland game. I hope a few of you will throw some brackets together as well. 

Also, **** England crushed it this morning. I almost feel bad for Panama.

I wasn’t sure how good Russia was, and Uruguay exposed them. I didn’t expect both Spain and Portugal to struggle the way they did.

I still can’t believe that South Korea better Germany 2-0. Holy crap this World Cup has been nuts
