We scored 8 today and couldn't win, that should be a wake up call for Billy Mohl.

I don't think this is a problem he's sleeping on. He just doesn't have the arms and there is absolutely nothing he can do about it in the short-term.

Bull pen is stinking up our chances to win against good teams. We should have won yesterday’s game. Not getting at least one run was a killer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USF Tallies 14 Hits, But Drop Sunday’s Finale at Houston

The Bulls had won six-straight series

HOUSTON, TX, APRIL 8, 2018 – The University of South Florida baseball dropped Sunday’s back-and-forth battle with Houston 9-8, losing its first series since opening weekend.

The Bulls (21-11, 5-4 The American) and Cougars (19-12, 6-3 The American) were tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the third. But two walks brought up Joe Davis, who hit a towering homer to left, making it 5-2.

USF got two back in the fourth on RBI singles from David Villar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.) before Houston added one in the bottom half, making it 6-4 in the fifth.

The Bulls loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth, leading to a Coco Montes (Miami) sac fly, making it 6-5. In the next at-bat, Duke Stunkel Jr. (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) singled to tie things up. Immediately after, Villar gave USF a 7-6 lead with an RBI single, scoring Tyler Dietrich (Naples, Fla.).

USF had a walk and three-straight infield singles in the seventh to extend the lead to 8-6. Houston, however, retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh with three runs on three hits, making it 9-8.

How the hell cant you get at least one run across?

Face a very good pitcher.  Hell, they only pushed one across in the bottom of the 9th.

Meh, you took 1 out of 3 on the road against a very good conference opponent.  I can live with it.  Got another tough series on the road next weekend.

They should have won yesterday but the sleeping bats of Houston woke up for, at least, this game. Saw the slugfest coming just thought it would have gone the other way. Did not expect that offense for Houston. I still stand behind this bull pen. All it takes is one pitcher to have a off game to make the bullpen look crappy. Sullivan had a ERA of 2.89 before giving up  4 earned runs in 2.1 innings. Ragsdale had a ERA of 1.59 before giving up 3 runs. So you tell me what would you have done differently? Baseball is a game of numbers and odds sometimes they don't work in your favor, sometimes they do. You take away 1 hit and its a 8-6 Bulls lead going into the bottom of the 9th. We may just take 2 of 3 against ECU next week and all their fans will be wondering wtf is wrong with the coach. It sucks but losing 2 one-run games on the road against a conference foe isn't the end of the world. That's why there are so many games so the quality of a team is shown over a long period of time rather than a over a couple of samples
