But that doesn't make CJF a bad coach or this year's team a bad team. We've been ranked most of the season, beat Ohio State handily and played UConn to as close as you can. Because Ohio State lost to us does that mean they fire their coach? We don't have the most physically talented kids. There is no Courtney Williams that can create her own shot. As Tony Kornheiser says often - the other teams have coaches too. Buffalo came in with a good plan and made a much higher percentage of their shots than normal. Stuff like this happens. I just don't think we have a great bunch of shooters on this team yet take a high number of 3s. Laura Ferreira quit showing as many at some point during the season because she knows she doesn't make a high percentage. It was frustrating to see her pass up open shots but if you aren't confident then don't shoot it. If we continue to play the same style next year, which we probably will, Alba and some of the new kids are going to have to be shooters.

I’ve never said that Jose was a bad coach, or that this year’s team is bad. If we don’t have the most physically talented kids, whos responsible for recruiting them? Tony who? Yes, Buffalo’s coach came in with a good plan (and adjusted as the game went on), so what was Jose’s? Time after time in yesterday’s game Jose’s defense was leaving Buffalo players wide open behind the arc...he did nothing to correct that. It was horrible to watch. We recruit the kids we do because we aren't a p5 school. There aren't a ton of top tier talents out there. Those go to UConn, ND, South Caroling, Stanford, etc. and we can occasionally grab someone who develops. But his going oversees to recruit is out of necessity. If he can get the best from over there and bring them together as a team he gives us the best shot at competing.

We didn’t get demolished by a P5 school on Saturday.

But I'll take our 4th consecutive trip to the tourney and finishing second in our league over not having those things... next year looks pretty good, so long as we get that on-court leader to step up & run the show. Maria was the closest we had this year, but wasn't clear game-in, game-out.
