TAMPA, MAR. 3, 2018  The Bulls will look to finish the regular season on a two-game winning streak when they host the SMU Mustangs on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNews.

USF (9-21, 2-15 AAC) is coming off a 75-51 rout of Memphis on Thursday night in Tennessee. The Bulls led by 22 points at the half and extended the lead to as many as 27 in the second half before securing the 24-point victory. The margin of victory was the largest for USF since March 4, 2015, when the Bulls defeated UCF by 29 at the Sun Dome.

Payton Banks (Orange, Calif.) surpassed the 1,000-point plateau with his 16th point in the game, which came in the second half. Banks finished the game with 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Malik Martin (Miami, Fla.) tied with Banks for the team lead in scoring, also finishing with 19 points. Martin had nine rebounds, three of which came on the offensive end. Martin was 8-for-10 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point land. The 19-point performance was his highest scoring output since scoring a career-high 24 points against Arkansas State on Nov. 24.

This should be a good barometer for how much the team has “improved” since the 40 point loss in early January.

Not really. It's a different SMU team ... plus, you can't put a barometer on this team.

It feels and looks like CBG has us moving in the right direction. I like that the guys have never quit this season. They might be able to pull this one out and beat Memphis again in the AAC tournament. That would be a nice ending to an otherwise forgettable season.

THIS is what I wanted to see. This team didn't quit all season and they're grabbing games by the horns at the end. Fine SMU is depleted, all it means is that with quality depth we will keep winning next year. It will be hard to make it to the semifinals of the American tournament but I refuse to rule them out the way they've played these past two games.

Up 55-44, only able to follow score today.  Would love to see them get this W.

This will mark the first time USF has won back-to-back conference games since Feb. 20, 2016. It isn't just that we are winning (against teams in the middle of the pack) it is the fight the players are showing. The never say die attitude and hard work on the defensive end is wonderful to watch. David Collins is a star in the making. Looking forward to watch this team grow under CBG the next 2 to 3 years.

If the seeds currently hold, we will get Memphis in the first round and then Tulsa in the second. We played Tulsa relatively close twice this season (L by 9 and 12). I could actually see this team making it to the semifinal of the AAC Tournament. I could also see us getting beat by 20 against Memphis, but I think a W against them is more likely at this point.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
