They will be 3-0 heading into that game, courtesy of the program's softest non-conference schedule since joining the Big Ten in 1993. There are a couple of Big East teams on PSU's early schedule, but the conference has lost considerable firepower now that Miami and Virginia Tech are in the ACC. The Big East now includes South Florida and Cincinnati, and both teams travel to Beaver Stadium in September. PSU opens its season Sept. 3 against the USF Bulls. Rounding out the non-conference slate is MAC middleweight Central Michigan. USF returns first-team Conference USA running back Andre Hall -- who ran for 1,357 yards and 11 touchdowns -- but little else. The Bulls have a hole at quarterback and are coming off a 4-7 season. Cincinnati is up next for PSU, and second-year coach Mark Dantonio also has a quarterback problem. The Bearcats also lost 16 starters off a team that finished 7-5 last season. Among the missing is 1,000-yard rusher Richard Hall. Central Michigan returns 16 starters from a team that posted a 4-7 record. Those four wins came against Ball State, Western Michigan, Kent State and Southeast Missouri State.

There are a lot of things that need to come together this offseason if we are going to compete.

That's right Knittany, because Old Joe Pa has to take up a hobby when we beat them!!! Reaper

The characterization of our offensive weaponry and QB position is hardly off-base.

All that team does anymore is live in the past they are far from the real penn state teams of the past.
