I'm not really a fan of the QBR. Let's play a game. Here are the stats of a NFL QB from this season, try to guess the QBR.

20/27 for 275 yds, 2TD, 130.9 Passer Rating, 2 rushing attempts for 3 yds and 1 TD.

Answer on next line

QBR is 24.1. Btw, this is Tom Brady from week 5 against the Cowboys

QBR is far too much of  statistic that depends upon the view point of the rater. The basic idea is to give credit where credit is due and is based on the QB contribution to the possibility of any given play resulting in a TD. One of the major problems is that a short pass that gets a lot of YACs will be mostly credited to the receiver instead of the QB, although that receiver may have been the third option, it doesn't take into consideration the QB reads or progressions, the ability to scramble and extend a play, or making the smart play for the critical third down conversion. Where the QBR may have any real significance is an annual rating rather than game by game, might be a real good indicator on average on how the QB affects the chances of his team winning. I think that is about all it is worth.
