So at what point do we have an answer one way or the other?

I'm guessing if we haven't heard anything by kickoff then he won't be getting one.

The answer is always no until it's a yes.

It's absolutely absurd that it has taken this long to get no answer

If I was to guess about this, I would have to say that there is probably a lot of documentation and validation going back and forth and each time that happens people jump in front of him for those waivers

Wouldn't matter anyway

As pointed out in the other thread the hardship waiver rule has changed.

It's no longer about starting right away. They can no longer start the same year as the transfer, instead they just don't count the current year as part of their eligibility and instead tack an extra year at the end

You can thank the "P5" schools for that

If he gets another year of eligibility, I'll be fine with waiting a little longer. Will probably benefit him to get a feel for the team this year anyway--by waiting another year, he'll inherit a more mature team to work with and be more a part of the team anyway. Just trying to keep it positive, but if we suck at QB again this year I'll be cursing the P5.

The new rule is effective next year, not this.

"NCAA athletes who transfer will no longer be able to apply for a hardship waiver to become immediately eligible at a new school starting in 2015-2016."

EDIT (for more clarity):

"The new rule will go into effect immediately, meaning players who are transferring for the 2015-16 season are subject to the change."

Right, as in does not apply to Woulard since his transfer was before 2015-16.

See my edit above... probably saved the edit at the same time you posted this.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
