  1. Neither does Pitt Pitt is an AAU member institution ranked in the top 50 nationally, they also have over a 2 Billion dollar endowment, Miami is also an AAU institution, with 5 National Championships, are we really trying to compare the situations at these 2 schools with USF? That being said, they are not making the off campus sharing the stadium with an NFL teamm work, (Attendance and Wins) neither are the other very few schools who operate under this scenario. UCLA and USC do not share with NFL teams. So I'll ask the question, based on past performance what makes anybody here think that USF administration can succeed in this type of shared stadium environment when nobody else in the country can?
  2. Sorry Doug, your missing one huge part of the equation that does play a big part in perception of the program and the overall university in general. You don't have a stadium and no future plans for one.............
  3. Not to throw salt on the gaping wound, but its no longer 2007. The victories against Auburn, West Virginia, Kansas, even the victory against Notre Dame seems like decades ago. What makes us think that USF is such a better option than UCF if the goal is to break into the Florida market? One could argue that we had our chance and did not do anything with it, give the other university a shot. We must face, that at this point we are equal, and UCF built a stadium that can be expanded. Would a better option be to pair up with them, offer ourselves as a packaged deal to the Big 12 in order to lock up the hole I4 corridor. What about considering taking a reduced revenue sharing rate? All options should be on the table.
  4. Its going to be a very interesting next couple of weeks, and it will be a huge blow if USF is left out of all this conference reshuffling. However, the worst thing we can all do is abandon the football program. If we ever hope to one day be relevant than our fan base will have to improve. Instead of saying its not worth the time and effort, why not ask what more this university can do to build itself up.
  5. Can someone clarify for me: If you finish in the top 12 you get an automatic bid??? or if you are not in the top 12 but the highest ranked champion of the "have nots", you get an automatic bid??
  6. Personally, I would like to see a lot of Big 10 away games, I'm not from the midwest but we all know that there are a lot of people from that region on the west coast of Florida as they all migrated down I75. For this reason, I think we will travel well to these games.
  7. When I hear that we cannot afford to buy out Skip Holtz, I’m going to cry Bull Dung, which I also might begin throwing. Yes, we do not have a war chest to just buy out coaches like other universities, nor a large base of highly involved and successful alumni that would allow Judy to slap Doug on the butt, wink, and say “Don’t let it happen again.†However, to think that USF athletics does not have the capability to cover Skip’s buyout over time is a bit of a stretch. If Holtz comes back, it’s because they want him back, the buyout excuse holds no water. Mom and Pop organizations do this all the time with less money, however the same principles still apply. First year business majors learn these creative accounting skills. First Holtz is not due a lump sum payment at his termination, he is due what his contract stipulates over the remainder of his contract. We can hire a new coach at less salary and save money there. A new coach would also bring in their own assistants, and their collectively salary could also be less than what Holtz is paying his staff, so in theory we could save money here as well. Let’s look at Vero Beach, is this necessary, it certainly hasn’t gotten the results the Holtz claims to provide. We must be able to save some money having the camp at USF. After that we could look at the entire athletics budget, and unfortunately there might be some casualties unrelated to football. This happens in organizations all the time; football is athletics life blood, and must be fed. Look into any position that is currently vacant and determine if it can be eliminated or merged with another position, or become an internship rather than paid. I do not know how strong the union is at USF but you could also forgo across the board raises to athletic employees. What about coaches in other sports, unfortunately, we might not be able to give them raises. These are just some suggestions, but the point of the matter is, I’m crying USF Bull Dung, if they tell me that Holtz is coming back because we cannot afford his buyout.
  8. I don't think it even took them 10 minutes...wasn't it more like 8? Either way they totally suck It was 8 minutes and 50 seconds, totally pathetic.
  9. Ditto, good for him, we deserved everything we got. Maybe our college students will realize that the real world has accountability! There are winners and losers in life................
  10. I do not think you can compare attendance at football games to any other sport. The "Football Exprience" is way more than what happens on the field. 20 something female Gator Grads (who dont care about sports) who watch the Real Housewives and the Bachelorette, can tell you who the Florida quarterback is and who the gators are playing next week, no other sport has this following.
  11. OCS in a landslide, its permanent, coaches come and go. An OCS will change the entire identity and perception of our University.
  12. Please enlighten me. Those are not our fans we all know it, a lot of our ticket holders sold their seats, why promote this? Does not look bad?
  13. USF athletics has updated their cover photo on Facebook and changed it to an aerial view of RJS from the FSU game. Total embarrassment, those were all FSU fans. Really shows this university is asleep at the wheel. Why would you be promoting a picture of a home game where there were more fans from the other team?
  14. Who were the BCS programs that were looking into Holtz after last season? Really........... Why would they go after him after last years performance.
  15. I thought the same thing watching the game then I realized thats how bad we must look to the rest of the country when we are on TV. Its apparent that sharing stadiums with NFL teams is a failed model. Why do we think we are any different? Is anybody having success with this scenario? (Temple, Pitt, Miami....)
  16. One thing that scares me as a I look forward to more years under Holtz, (with next year essentially rebuidling) is the lack of overall infrastructure with regards to the football program. If the fieldhouse is next on the horizon (and standing in front of an eventual OCS), where are we in the process? Do we have a timeframe established? Have funds been secured? Why is there not a fund to donate to? 15 million just does not seem like that large a sum to raise. My hospital raised 100K in one night at the company gala. All the university needs to do is start asking.
  17. Technically not a non bcs loss, but this is essentially a MAC team called up because TCU left.
  18. Honest discussion, keeping emotions at bay. If Holtz was fired at end of season what would happen to our commits? Many stay, or go? They might be going anyway.........
  19. Sold out game, lots of pockets of empty seats. Fans just have to many areas to go and not be in their seats.
  20. 60/40 We have a 12,500 seat student section, hoping that this is filled up and students don't give to FSU (don't know if they even can) That would leave only 15,500 USF fans and alumni in the rest of the stadium for one of our most anticipated home games in quite some time.
  21. I have been unimpressed with the Fan in general, especially the morning show, I was hoping to hear a lot more USF since it is our flagship station, all that hoopla was smoke and mirrors. Bubba has much more compelling radio..................
